Yeast

Cells use aerobic respiration to release energy from glucose, the energy is needed for growth, repair movement and heat.

The waste products water and carbon dioxide are released.

Yeast cells are able to respire without oxygen, this is called anaerobic respiration. Less energy is released from glucose and the waste products are ethanol and carbon dioxide.

We make use of this process in brewing and baking.
